Hi! My name is Daniel Wang and I am a student at UNC Chapel Hill pursuing degrees in Computer Science and Data Science.
I am highly interested in exploring AI/Machine learning, computer vision, data analytics, and bioinformatics. I believe my strong ability to problem solve, collaborate through teamwork, and bring creative ideas will allow me to thrive in a software, statistics, and data analytics industry position. I am excited to apply my computational and analytical skills to extract meaningful insights from data and expand my knowledge within these fields.
In my free time, I enjoy playing and watching tennis, reading motivational books, traveling, nature walks, sunsets, and getting involved with social and outdoor activities.

Analysis of Cell Enrichment and Genetic Expression Data

- Worked under Dr. Fei Zou and Dr. Jing to examine a possible relationship between cell enrichment scores and genetic expression data to better identify infection trends among genetic cells.
- Utilized R, xCell and Seurat packages, and linear regression modeling.
Computational Identification of Lactic Acid Bacteria

- Designed a computational algorithm using open-source software packages, Python, Biopython, and the Ribosomal Database to build a comparison pipeline that could differentiate between various bacterial strains of the 16S rRNA subregion of DNA fragments.
- Created a new streamlined process for identifying lactic acid bacteria for future research in probiotics and bacterial identification.
